Autism & ADHD Support

Every person experiences the world differently. For individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD, support should focus on understanding, empowerment, and building on existing strengths rather than trying to change who they are.

At Your Positive Path, we provide neurodiversity affirming support for children, adolescents, and adults. Our psychologists work collaboratively with individuals and families to develop practical strategies that support wellbeing, confidence, emotional regulation, relationships, and everyday functioning. We support NDIS participants, Medicare clients, private clients, and families across Melbourne and Australia through telehealth services.

What Is Neurodiversity Affirming Support?

Supporting Individuals, Not Fixing Them

Neurodiversity affirming support recognises that Autism and ADHD are natural variations of human thinking, learning, communication, and behaviour.

Rather than focusing on deficits, our approach focuses on understanding individual strengths, preferences, challenges, and goals. We work alongside individuals to build skills, confidence, self-understanding, and practical strategies that support participation in everyday life.

Identity-first language welcomed

We follow your lead on how you identify and talk about yourself. There is no single "right" way.

Sensory-aware practice

Our clinics are designed with sensory comfort in mind. We're flexible about lighting, noise, and how we work with you.

No masking required

You don't have to perform neurotypicality here. Stim, be direct, communicate however works best for you.

Collaborative, not prescriptive

You set the goals. We work alongside you, not above you. Your lived experience matters in every session.

Support for Autism

Building Confidence, Connection and Independence

Every autistic person is unique. Some individuals may seek support with emotional wellbeing, communication, social relationships, sensory experiences, or navigating everyday challenges.

Our autism support services are tailored to the individual’s needs, strengths, and goals.

Areas we commonly support include:

Our goal is to help individuals feel understood, supported, and empowered to thrive in their own way.

We also support late-diagnosed autistic people

A growing number of adults – particularly women, non-binary people, and those from culturally diverse backgrounds are receiving autism diagnoses in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and beyond. This can bring relief, grief, and a lot of questions.

Support for autistic adults in Australia is still underfunded, we’re here to help fill that gap.
Support for ADHD

Practical Strategies for Everyday Challenges

ADHD can affect attention, organisation, emotional regulation, motivation, and daily routines. While ADHD presents challenges, it also comes with unique strengths, creativity, and ways of thinking.

Our psychologists help individuals develop strategies that work with their brain rather than against it.

Support may include:

We provide ADHD support for children, adolescents, and adults.

The ADHD + anxiety combination
Anxiety is extremely common in people with ADHD and it’s not always obvious which one is driving a particular struggle. Many people with undiagnosed or unsupported ADHD develop significant anxiety simply from years of trying to function in a world that wasn’t designed for how their brain works.
Our ADHD support in Melbourne always looks at the whole picture – not just the diagnosis on paper.

We work alongside your GP or paediatrician if medication is also being considered or reviewed.

Support for Children

Helping Children Grow With Confidence

Children with Autism and ADHD often experience unique strengths and challenges at home, school, and within social environments.

We work closely with children, parents, carers, and educators to create practical support strategies that promote development, wellbeing, and participation.

School support

We can provide reports and recommendations for Individual Education Plans (IEPs), reasonable adjustments, and teacher strategies tailored to your child.

Emotional regulation

Many neurodivergent children struggle with big feelings. We use practical, age-appropriate approaches to help them understand and manage their emotional responses.

Social skills (on their terms)

Not about making your child appear more neurotypical — but about helping them navigate social situations in ways that feel manageable and authentic to them.

Parent and carer support

Raising a neurodivergent child is rewarding and exhausting in equal measure. We offer guidance and support to parents so they can better support their child and themselves.

School refusal and avoidance

When school feels overwhelming, children often shut down or refuse to go. We work through what's driving this and build a plan that reduces the pressure gradually.

Strengths-based goal setting

Every neurodivergent child has genuine strengths. We make sure those are front and centre, not an afterthought.

Children with an autism or ADHD diagnosis may be eligible for NDIS funding to access psychology support. We are a registered NDIS provider and can work with plan-managed and self-managed participants. Contact us to discuss how NDIS funding can be used toward sessions.
